They fit, just a PITA to get it in between the tranny and the firewall.
The dipsticks on the 2nd gens absolutely SUCK and its normal. Some folks have sanded or roughed up the ends to help. I roughed mine up pretty good and it didn't help at all. For the most part - I put the recommended amount in, check the dipstick and guess where the mark is - and seeing the oil is there.....and that's about it.
